Money is Transitory, Asserts Socialite Post-Naira Abuse Trial

Renowned businessman and socialite, Pascal Okechukwu, widely known as Cubana Chief Priest, has broken his silence following the fulfillment of his N10 million bail condition with two sureties.

In an Instagram post shortly after his arraignment, Okechukwu asserted his stature, declaring, “Seeing all your messages and love, I’m truly humbled. Now it’s confirmed CP (Cubana Priest) is not small. Money is transient.”

Earlier reported by The PUNCH, the Federal High Court in Lagos granted Okechukwu N10 million bail with two sureties.

The celebrity barman pleaded not guilty to charges of tampering and abusing the nation’s currency during his trial before Justice Kehinde Ogundare. Allegations included spraying and tampering with the naira at a social event, contrary to the Central Bank Act of 2007.

Okechukwu was accused of spraying the naira at Eko Hotel on February 13, 2024, and tampering with funds in the denomination of N500 notes during a social event, where he allegedly sprayed the same for two hours.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, in charge marked FHC/L/ 246/2024, alleged that Okechukwu tampered with funds in the denomination of N500 issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria during a social event in Lagos in 2020.

In Count 3, it was alleged, “That you, Okechukwu Pascal, sometime in January 2024, in Lagos during a social event, tampered with funds in the denomination of N500 (Five Hundred Naira) issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria by spraying same and you thereby committed an offence, contrary to and punishable under Section 21(1) of the Central Bank Act 2007.”
