Airtel Nigeria Joins 5G Revolution, Becomes Third Operator to Launch Advanced Services in the Country

Airtel Nigeria, one of the leading mobile network operators, has officially introduced fifth-generation (5G) technology services in the country, joining the ranks of operators embracing this advanced technology.

With the launch, the total number of operators offering 5G services in Nigeria has now reached three. The implementation of 5G technology holds the promise of delivering super-fast data services and has the potential to revolutionize various sectors of the economy, including medicine, agriculture, and more.

MTN Nigeria was the first to pioneer the introduction of 5G services in the country, followed by Mafab Communications.

Femi Oshinlaja, the Chief Commercial Officer at Airtel Nigeria, stated that the initial rollout of 5G services will be available in four major cities: Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, Lagos, Ogun, and Rivers States. He further mentioned that the services would subsequently be extended to other parts of the country.
