BUA Group Forges Strategic Partnership for 700-Ton-Per-Day Mini LNG Project in Nigeria

BUA Group, a leading African conglomerate in foods, mining, manufacturing, and industry, has inked a significant agreement with CIMC ENRIC, a global energy equipment leader, in collaboration with Axxela, to establish a 700-ton-per-day mini LNG project in Nigeria. The formal signing ceremony, held on Monday in Lagos, marks a pivotal move for BUA Group’s expansion into the energy sector and underscores its commitment to sustainable energy solutions.

Abdul Samad Rabiu, Chairman of BUA Group, expressed enthusiasm for this landmark project, emphasizing the conglomerate’s dedication to cleaner, energy-efficient sources aligned with short to long-term Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) commitments and sustainability initiatives. While BUA already relies on gas as a major energy source for its operations through over 1,000MW captive power plants across Nigeria, the completion of the mini LNG project is expected to ensure year-round availability of cleaner energy, supporting BUA Group’s increasing industrial power needs.

Rabiu stated, “We are excited about the prospects of this project and look forward to a fruitful collaboration with CIMC ENRIC and Axxela.” The agreement, signed by management representatives of BUA Group, CIMC ENRIC, and Axxela Group, signifies the project’s potential impact on the regional energy landscape, aligning with the Nigerian Government’s push to diversify its energy commitments.

BUA Group remains committed to investing in cutting-edge technology and infrastructure that not only benefits its operations but also positively impacts the communities it serves. This strategic initiative marks a milestone in BUA Group’s ongoing efforts to contribute to cleaner and more sustainable energy practices in Nigeria.
