Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced a reduction in the ex-depot price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), also known as petrol, from N990 to N970 per litre. This price cut, effective immediately for oil marketers, is part of the company’s end-of-year initiative to give back to Nigerians.
Anthony Chiejina, the Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer of Dangote Group, stated that the price adjustment is a token of appreciation for the support Nigerians have shown in making the Dangote Refinery a reality. “This is our way of thanking the people of Nigeria for their unwavering support in bringing the refinery to life,” he said.
Since its inauguration earlier this year, Dangote Refinery, the world’s largest single-train refinery, has been a game changer for Nigeria’s petroleum sector. The refinery has significantly boosted domestic fuel production, reducing the nation’s reliance on imported petrol.
Chiejina assured Nigerians that the refinery is committed to producing high-quality, environmentally friendly, and sustainable fuel. He also emphasized the refinery’s ability to meet domestic fuel consumption needs, dispelling fears of potential supply shortages.
“We are ramping up production to ensure that we meet and exceed the country’s fuel demands, ensuring there are no shortages,” Chiejina added.
The price reduction is expected to provide relief to Nigerian consumers amid rising inflation, potentially easing the financial pressure on households and businesses across the country. This move further reinforces Dangote Refinery’s role in strengthening Nigeria’s energy security and economic stability.
