Fan Milk Plc and Obasanjo Farms Nigeria Limited have forged a strategic alliance aimed at propelling the expansion of dairy farming and promoting local sourcing initiatives in Nigeria.
Located in Iseyin, Oyo State, the farm is poised to deliver 300 heifers within the inaugural year of the project. By the conclusion of December 2026, this figure is anticipated to double. Additionally, Fan Milk will import 100 pregnant heifers from Egypt. Under the terms of the five-year partnership agreement, Fan Milk will procure the freshly produced milk and provide comprehensive training and technical support for personnel.
This collaboration is forecasted to generate employment opportunities, particularly in rural regions. Both entities are dedicated to engaging with local communities to nurture positive relationships, address social concerns, and champion responsible corporate citizenship.
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Chairman of Obasanjo Farms Limited, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, asserting its potential to propel dairy farm expansion and local sourcing endeavors. He highlighted the significance of investing in training and capacity-building programs for local farmers to empower communities, enhance productivity, and bolster Nigeria’s agricultural sector.
Herve Barrere, General Manager of Danone Sub-Saharan Africa, underscored the importance of sourcing raw materials locally, empowering farmers, and contributing to agricultural sector growth. He emphasized the partnership’s commitment to enhancing livelihoods and promoting sustainable agricultural practices.
This partnership represents a pivotal step in Fan Milk Plc’s commitment to backward integration, following the successful establishment of its model dairy farm in Odeda, Ogun State, and the training of local dairy farmers at the Odeda Dairy Training Institute in 2022. It aligns with key objectives of the current government administration, including ensuring food security, fostering economic growth, job creation, and poverty eradication.
