The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) is preparing to impose a fine of between N200 million and N300 million on Royal Air Maroc for unprofessional conduct and non-compliance with regulatory standards.
This move, which could be the largest fine in Nigeria’s aviation history, follows the airline’s repeated failure to respond to inquiries from the NCAA and its ongoing violations of industry regulations.
Michael Achimugu, the NCAA’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, confirmed that Royal Air Maroc is a “serial offender,” prompting a thorough investigation.

Achimugu emphasized that while the sanction is still undergoing legal processing, it is part of the NCAA’s commitment to ensuring world-class service for Nigerian passengers.
The airline’s recent issues included an emergency landing of a flight from Casablanca to Abuja, which stranded passengers in Marrakesh without adequate care.
Despite providing refreshments, passengers, including many Nigerians, were left without proper shelter, leading to complaints about poor treatment. The NCAA has summoned the airline’s management to address the grievances and ensure better service in the future.
