Dr. Zacch Adedeji, the Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), has pledged a customer-centric and business-friendly tax administration to Mobile Telephone Network (MTN) Nigeria Plc and other telecom operators. This assurance was conveyed during a visit to the FIRS headquarters in Abuja by MTN Nigeria’s CEO, Mr. Karl Toriola, and the management team.
Adedeji emphasized his commitment to fostering an environment of growth by eliminating obstacles for corporate entities, aligning with President Bola Tinubu’s directive. As part of ongoing restructuring efforts, Adedeji highlighted the creation of a one-stop shop for taxpayers based on turnover thresholds, simplifying tax payments and addressing audit-related matters.
In the statement by his media adviser, Dare Adekanmbi, Adedeji explained the restructuring’s focus on providing efficient services to customers, eliminating multiple letters from various FIRS units on similar matters. He underscored the symbiotic relationship between FIRS and taxpayers, emphasizing that the existence of taxpayers determines the tax watchdog’s role.
MTN Nigeria’s CEO, Karl Toriola, expressed the company’s commitment to supporting federal government and FIRS initiatives to boost tax revenue. Toriola highlighted MTN’s nationwide presence and its impact on the lives of Nigerians, pledging to be a partner in enhancing the nation’s economy. He assured that MTN Nigeria would show flexibility and support various initiatives, emphasizing the company’s commitment to timely tax payments and collaboration with the government.
