Petroleum marketers have announced plans to initiate high-level discussions with the Dangote Refinery to establish a coordinated fuel distribution strategy ahead of full-scale operations at the multi-billion-dollar facility.
The marketers, under the aegis of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) and the Major Oil Marketers Association of Nigeria (MOMAN), say the move is aimed at ensuring seamless delivery of refined products across the country, improving supply chain efficiency, and stabilizing prices.
Speaking in Lagos on Thursday, IPMAN President Abubakar Maigandi said the engagement would focus on logistics, pricing models, and access to refined products for both major and independent marketers. “We are eager to work with the Dangote Group to create a fair and efficient distribution framework that benefits all Nigerians,” he said.
The Dangote Refinery, with a capacity to produce 650,000 barrels per day, is expected to significantly reduce Nigeria’s dependence on imported fuel. Industry stakeholders see the planned dialogue as crucial to harmonizing downstream operations and maximizing the impact of the refinery’s output on the domestic market.
Dangote Group is yet to release an official statement, but sources within the company indicate readiness to collaborate with key market players to ensure broad-based access and transparency in product allocation.
