Headline: Anambra NSCDC Enhances Security Measures Ahead of Nationwide Protest

The Anambra State command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) is intensifying its efforts to safeguard public assets and infrastructure in preparation for the upcoming nationwide protests. NSCDC Commandant Maku Olatunde announced on Friday that the command has convened a strategic meeting with all Area Commanders, Divisional Officers, Heads of Formations, and Tactical Commanders at the State Command Headquarters in Awka.

The meeting aimed to develop effective strategies to protect critical national assets, prevent any potential breakdown of law and order, and ensure a unified response to possible security challenges during the protests. Olatunde emphasized the need for vigilance and full responsibility among supervisory officers for the security of assets.

“We appeal to protest organizers to consider lawful channels for expressing grievances and to guard against infiltration by miscreants and anti-progressive elements,” Olatunde said. He reaffirmed the NSCDC’s commitment to collaborating with other security agencies to maintain peace and order.

In addition to strategic planning, the NSCDC has bolstered its operational capacity with the addition of five refurbished IVM IKENGA vehicles. The vehicles, previously out of service, were restored through a collaboration between the state government and the command. The refurbished vehicles were formally presented to the NSCDC at a ceremony held at the Government House, Awka.

Superintendent of Corps Okadigbo Edwin highlighted that the state government refurbished four of the vehicles, while the NSCDC refurbished one, enhancing the command’s ability to respond to security challenges. The new vehicles are expected to significantly improve the NSCDC’s capacity to protect federal, state, and local government assets in Anambra State.

Commandant Maku Olatunde and the Commandant General, Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, expressed their gratitude to Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo and AVM Ben Chiobi (Rtd.), Special Adviser on Security, for their support in restoring the vehicles.
