Iran Condemns Israeli Strike on Gaza School as “War Crime”

Iran has condemned an Israeli airstrike on a school in Gaza, which was sheltering displaced Palestinians, as a “barbaric” act and a “war crime.” The attack, which occurred on Saturday, resulted in dozens of fatalities.

Nasser Kanani, Iran’s foreign ministry spokesman, criticized the strike as a blatant disregard for international law and humanitarian principles. He described the attack as “a clear example of genocide, war crimes, and crimes against humanity” perpetrated by Israel.

The Gaza Strip’s civil defense agency, controlled by the Palestinian militant group Hamas, reported that 93 people were killed in the airstrike. Israel’s military claimed that Hamas militants were using the building as a command center.

Iran, which does not recognize Israel and has long supported the Palestinian cause, has called for international support for the Palestinians. This condemnation follows heightened tensions between Iran and Israel, exacerbated by the recent killing of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, which Iran has blamed on Israel and vowed to retaliate against.

The incident marks one of the deadliest single strikes in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas, though the exact toll has yet to be independently verified.
