JUNIOR POPE: POLICE COMMENCE INVESTIGATION INTO BOAT MISHAP 

The Anambra State Police command has initiated an investigation into the tragic boat mishap that claimed the life of renowned Nollywood star, John Paul Odonwodo, popularly known as Junior Pope.

While the exact cause of the incident has not been disclosed to the public, the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, stated that the Commissioner of Police, Aderemi Adeoye, has ordered a comprehensive investigation to ascertain any potential criminal liability.

According to Ikenga, upon receiving the distress call, the Anambra Command Marine Police swiftly deployed for rescue operations. They successfully rescued six actors and one actress from the water. Additionally, two individuals who were unconscious were retrieved with the assistance of local fishermen and transported to the Delta State Command Marine Police Jetty, where the rest of the crew awaited.

Ikenga further mentioned, “They were handed over to the President of the Actors Guild for conveyance to the hospital, while the rescue team went back in search of three others who are still missing as at the time of this release.”

While the accident occurred within Anambra State’s jurisdiction, matters concerning the release of the accident victims’ bodies for proper burial are under the purview of the Delta State Police Command.

In his condolence message, the Commissioner of Police extended sympathies to the families, friends, and fans of the actors who lost their lives in the tragic mishap, praying for the repose of their souls.
