Hundreds of aggrieved members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from all 57 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in Lagos State staged a peaceful protest at the Lagos State House of Assembly on Monday, voicing strong opposition to the party’s recent local government election conduct and leadership style.

Chanting solidarity songs and carrying placards, the protesters called for the immediate removal of the APC Lagos State Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, and a member of the House of Representatives, Hon. James Faleke. They accused both men of manipulating internal processes and failing to promote grassroots democracy within the party.

“We are loyal members of the APC, but we are not happy with how things are going. The leadership at the state level is not doing well. If this continues, it will affect our chances in subsequent elections,” said Alhaji Talibu Lawal, a protester from Onigbongbo LCDA.

Lawal further stated that Hon. Faleke “has overstayed his relevance” in the party’s local political structure and urged him to step aside for new leadership to emerge.

The protesters called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and other senior APC stakeholders to intervene swiftly. They warned that failure to address their grievances could fracture party unity and jeopardize the APC’s performance in the 2027 general elections.

Security personnel, under the watch of Lagos State Commissioner of Police CP Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, were stationed at the Assembly complex throughout the protest to ensure the demonstration remained peaceful and orderly. No incidents of violence were reported.

The protest is the latest in a series of internal challenges facing the Lagos APC, as members grapple with concerns about transparency, inclusion, and political fairness ahead of key electoral cycles.
