Lasaco Assurance Plc has extended its philanthropic arm by donating health recovery items to bolster the Health Initiative Programme of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members serving in Ifako Ijaiye Local Government area of Lagos State.
Under the umbrella of the Local Government Initiative (LGI), corps members spearheaded the first quarter Health Initiative in 2024, aiming to provide essential healthcare services to rural dwellers facing challenges accessing quality healthcare due to poverty, ignorance, and superstition.
According to Lasaco Assurance Plc, the initiative aims to address the healthcare needs of the beneficiaries and alleviate the difficulties faced by rural dwellers in accessing quality healthcare, which often leads to reliance on unorthodox medical practices.
Seye Smart, the company’s Head of Corporate Communications, representing the Head of Strategy, Research, and Communications, Dayo Adetokun, stressed the significance of promoting access to quality healthcare and safety. Smart emphasized that enhancing citizens’ health and well-being not only improves their productivity but also extends their life expectancy, ultimately contributing to societal growth and human development.
Smart expressed gratitude to the corps members for their commitment to addressing the health needs of the Ifako Ijaiye community. She urged community members to take advantage of the programme to seek solutions to their health challenges.
Bose Ojimi, leader of the LGI team, described the programme as their group’s modest contribution to Nigeria’s efforts to enhance healthcare and safety for its citizens. Ojimi expressed hope that other corporate entities would emulate Lasaco Assurance’s example by providing necessary assistance to communities in need.
