The late Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, will be laid to rest on Friday, with Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State expected to lead dignitaries from across the country to the funeral service at St. Peter’s Church, Aremo, Ibadan.

According to the Olubadan Palace Press Secretary, Chief Solomon Ayoade, a special book presentation will also take place in honour of the 43rd Olubadan during the funeral reception at the International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan.

The book, titled How Not to Be a King, was initially planned to commemorate Oba Olakulehin’s 90th birthday and coronation anniversary. However, the monarch’s death on July 7 led to the postponement of the launch.

Chief Ayoade said the publication chronicles the life and reign of the late Olubadan, featuring personal reflections and testimonies from family, friends, associates, and members of the Olubadan Advisory Council.

“He was a monarch dedicated to the unity and progress of Ibadanland,” Ayoade noted.

In the build-up to Friday’s events, a series of activities have been ongoing at the late Olubadan’s residence in Alalubosa GRA, Aleshiloye, as well as at the Central Palace in Oke Aremo, where mourners continue to pay their respects.
