The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) is gearing up to spotlight its strides in promoting indigenous content within the telecommunications sector at the second edition of the Nigerian Telecommunications Indigenous Content Expo (NTICE 2023). The expo is scheduled to take place from August 22 to 24, 2023, at the Landmark Centre in Victoria Island, Lagos.
Under the theme “Harnessing Indigenous Content for Economic Growth: Networking to Boost Investment,” the NCC is rallying stakeholders for what is anticipated to be a remarkable event, building upon the success of last year’s inaugural edition.
Coordinated by the Commission’s Nigeria Office for Developing the Indigenous Telecom Sector (NODITS), the NTICE aims to effectively implement the National Policy on the Promotion and Implementation of Indigenous Contents in the Telecommunications Sector (NPPIC).
The event is open to a diverse range of participants from various sectors, including indigenous telecom operators, manufacturers, regulators, government agencies, policymakers, innovators, industry leaders, startups, academia, and global experts. They will converge to showcase products, services, innovative solutions, and new technologies.
Aligned with the Nigerian Communications Act (NCA) of 2003, the NCC is empowered to foster local and foreign investments in the Nigerian communications industry, encourage innovative services and practices, and promote Nigerian participation in various aspects of the sector.
NTICE 2023 aligns with the NPPIC’s focus areas of Manufacturing, Service, People, and Research and Development for innovation. This strategic initiative is in line with the Federal Government’s push for economic diversification.
NTICE has emerged as a pivotal platform where stakeholders can engage and exchange ideas, advancing the utilization of indigenous content within Nigeria’s telecommunications sector.
To participate in the event, formal registration is mandatory and can be completed through the link www.ntice.ncc.gov.ng. Interested participants are advised to register before August 22, 2023.
In a recent media interaction, Prof. Umar Danbatta, the Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the NCC, emphasized that NTICE is the country’s premier annual event in the indigenous telecoms, tech, startups, manufacturing, and innovation sectors. It fosters connections, relationships, and highlights achievements and potential within the tech-driven digital economy.
The 2023 edition of the expo aims to showcase the government’s achievements in promoting indigenous content within the sector while providing a platform for participants to exhibit products, services, innovative solutions, and new technologies.
