NDIC Calls for Deposit Insurance Module in ICAN Curriculum

The Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) has urged the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) to introduce a deposit insurance module in its curriculum. NDIC Managing Director, Mr. Bello Hassan, made this call during a courtesy visit by the ICAN Governing Council to the NDIC office in Abuja.

Hassan emphasized that incorporating the module into ICAN exams would enhance members’ understanding of the Deposit Insurance Scheme, which is crucial for future bankers and examiners. He reiterated the importance of collaboration between NDIC and ICAN to strengthen the banking sector’s stability and Nigeria’s financial system.

ICAN President commended NDIC for its commitment to corporate governance, anti-corruption measures, and effective internal controls, which earned the Corporation top recognition in the 2023 Ethics and Integrity Compliance Scorecard from the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission.

Additionally, ICAN has launched the Accountability Index to promote integrity in economic sectors, focusing on budget credibility, asset, and debt management.
