Newly Appointed WACT Managing Director Affirms Nigeria’s Strategic Significance in Africa

Jeethu Jose, the recently appointed Managing Director of West Africa Container Terminal (WACT), has highlighted Nigeria’s pivotal role as one of the most crucial markets in Africa. Taking over the position from Syed Naved Zafar, Jose expressed his readiness to contribute to Nigeria’s development, emphasizing its status as the largest economy and most populous country on the continent.

In a statement, Jose conveyed his enthusiasm for continuing his journey in Nigeria and contributing to the realization of the country’s economic aspirations. Recognizing Nigeria’s significance in the region, he affirmed his commitment to working with stakeholders to implement strategic priorities at WACT and expanding service delivery, particularly in Eastern Nigeria.

Prior to his current role, Jose served as the Deputy Managing Director of WACT, Onne. As the new Managing Director, he assumes responsibility for advancing the expansion and transformation of the global terminal operator’s strategic gateway terminal in Eastern Nigeria. Jose will report to Frederik Klinke, CEO of APM Terminals Nigeria, collaborating closely with the leadership teams in Nigeria, the regional team, and the global APM Terminals team in The Hague.

Jose, who joined the Maersk Group in 2016, brings a wealth of experience in leading transformations and teams across various geographies. His tenure in Nigeria involved significant contributions to the APM Terminals Apapa transformation journey and the USD 115 million Onne Terminal Upgrade Project (OTUP). With a background in Mechanical Engineering and executive education in Supply Chain, Jose is recognized for his commitment to achieving solid results, enhancing stakeholder engagement, and fostering positive employee relations within the Maersk Group.
