The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) and the Customs Administration of Benin Republic convened over the weekend to strategize on enhancing trade activities between the two nations. In a press release issued by Abdullahi Maiwada, the national public relations officer, it was revealed that the discussions also aimed at ensuring the smooth implementation of previously discussed recommendations during their meeting in Cotonou.
The collaboration seeks to reinforce the longstanding partnership between the two agencies. Maiwada highlighted the established framework for cooperation between the customs administrations, originating from the expressed desire of the heads of State, President Patrice Talon of Benin and President Bola Tinubu of Nigeria, to work together. He emphasized that the customs of both countries are united in their efforts based on this foundation.
Welcoming the delegation, Adidjatou Hassan Zanouvi, the director general of Benin Customs Administration, reiterated their firm commitment to executing the mutually agreed-upon measures. She stressed the importance of thorough monitoring to ensure the effective implementation of these measures.
The collaborative efforts between the Nigeria Customs Service and the Benin Republic Customs Administration underscore their shared dedication to facilitating seamless trade operations and managing cross-border activities efficiently.
