The Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NIQS) Foundation has announced a partnership with Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, recognizing the construction firm’s significant contributions to infrastructure development and its impact on Nigeria’s built environment. Olusegun Ajanlekoko, Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the NIQS Foundation, emphasized the foundation’s commitment to collaborating with industry leaders during a courtesy visit to Julius Berger.
“This foundation is an offshoot of the NIQS. When NIQS turned 50, we thought about how we could impact society and make our presence felt,” Ajanlekoko explained. “We needed to go beyond our confinement and seek partnerships with like-minded organisations. Our first point of call was Julius Berger.” He lauded Julius Berger as a “beacon of excellence” in infrastructure development, citing the company’s projects as key contributors to Nigeria’s growth and modernization.

Ajanlekoko also praised Julius Berger’s dedication to sustainability, capacity building, and industry best practices. He stated that the visit aimed to solidify a strategic partnership aligned with shared goals of excellence, professionalism, and innovation.
Abdulaziz Kaita, Julius Berger’s Director of Administration, acknowledged the NIQS Foundation’s contributions to quantity surveying and the broader construction industry. “Your presence here today is not just an acknowledgement of our shared values of excellence and professionalism but a testament to your commitment to the growth of quantity surveying in Nigeria,” Kaita said.

He commended the foundation’s efforts in promoting professional development, fostering innovation, and upholding ethical standards, adding that the visit provided an opportunity to strengthen existing ties and explore avenues for empowering young professionals in the field. “This engagement will lead to fruitful discussions and actionable steps to reinforce the value of quantity surveying in national development,” he added.
Dr. Celestina Eke, Director-General of the NIQS Foundation, described the visit as a significant step towards enhanced industry collaboration. She underscored the foundation’s mission to drive research and elevate professional standards within the quantity surveying profession. “The NIQS Foundation is committed to working together on initiatives that promote professional development and address the challenges faced by quantity surveyors,” Eke remarked. She expressed confidence that the partnership with Julius Berger would stimulate growth within the sector, leading to the delivery of high-quality and sustainable projects across Nigeria.
The event brought together key representatives from both organizations, including senior officials from the NIQS Foundation and Julius Berger’s leadership team. Discussions focused on areas of cooperation to advance infrastructure development and promote professional excellence in the country. Both organizations expressed enthusiasm for the potential of the partnership to positively impact Nigeria’s construction landscape.
