The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has announced a comprehensive review of the Guidelines for Registration of ICT Service Providers/Contractors. The aim is to streamline the process for the delivery of IT services to Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) of the federal government in Nigeria.
Originally issued in 2018, these guidelines outline the registration process for indigenous IT service providers. The goal is to ensure the delivery of high-quality IT projects to the federal government, uphold the highest standards of professionalism in IT services, and foster the growth of local IT companies. The review seeks to enhance the efficiency of the registration process, promote indigenous IT service provision, and engage competent vendors for IT service delivery to MDAs.
Hadiza Umar, Head of Corporate Affairs and External Relations at NITDA, stated that the amendment of the guidelines would create opportunities for more digital services provided by Nigerian companies and strengthen the ease of doing business for IT service providers. The initiative aligns with the current administration’s focus on efficiency and innovation, aiming to ensure collective prosperity through the use of Information Technology.
NITDA encourages collaboration with stakeholders and invites the public to provide comments, inputs, and feedback on the guidelines by January 21, 2024. The agency’s goal is to leverage Information Technology to enhance and simplify daily activities, especially government and institutional service delivery.
