Abuja – July 5, 2024 – President Bola Tinubu has extended his congratulations to Sir Keir Starmer, leader of the United Kingdom Labour Party, on the party’s victory in the recent general election.
In a statement released on Friday by his Media Adviser, Ajuri Ngelale, President Tinubu, a former leader of the opposition in Nigeria, commended Starmer for his determination and courage during his tenure as the leader of the Labour Party and while in opposition.
“The party’s ability to reform, mobilize, and position itself for victory after 14 years clearly affirms the leadership qualities of Sir Starmer,” President Tinubu stated.
The Nigerian president also congratulated the citizens and government of the United Kingdom, praising the UK as a steadfast model of democracy and acknowledging the long-standing partnership between the two nations.
President Tinubu expressed his eagerness to deepen relations between Nigeria and the United Kingdom, emphasizing mutual areas of interest, the strengthening of democratic institutions, and the aspiration to build a safer and more prosperous future for the people of both countries.
