The Progressives Governors’ Forum (PGF) has appealed to Nigerians to exercise patience as President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms face initial challenges. The governors, elected under the All Progressives Congress (APC), expressed confidence that the nation will overcome the current difficulties.
Following a closed-door meeting on Wednesday night, PGF Chairman and Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma urged Nigerian youths to avoid participating in the planned demonstration and to allow time for the president to address the country’s issues.
“We have reviewed the government’s policies and recognize that the initial stage of these reforms comes with challenges. However, we believe these policies are crucial for addressing the current economic hardships,” Uzodimma said. “We are confident that in a short time, the situation will improve and prosperity will follow.”
He advised Nigerians, particularly the youth, to resist being drawn into chaos or unrest, emphasizing the importance of national unity and patriotism. Uzodimma highlighted that the country has already endured significant hardships, including a global economic recession, insecurity, political tension, and criticism from opposition parties and social media.
The governor stressed that citizens should take ownership of their country and support the government’s efforts to resolve these issues. He reassured that the current administration is making progress and working towards a better future for Nigeria.
