“Senate Confirms Sen. Imasuen Bello as Chairman of Ethics, Code of Conduct Bureau”
The Nigerian Senate has confirmed Sen. Imasuen Bello as the Chairman of the Ethics, Code of Conduct, and Public Petitions Committee. This confirmation comes following the submission of a report by the Senate Committee on Ethics, Code of Conduct, and Public Petitions, chaired by Sen. Neda Bernards Imasuen (Edo South).
Sen. Bello’s appointment by President Bola Tinubu in March was endorsed after his successful screening by the Senate on Tuesday. During his appearance before the committee, Sen. Bello pledged to uphold integrity, transparency, and accountability in overseeing the conduct of public and civil servants.
“The work is about ensuring integrity, transparency, and accountability among public and civil servants,” Sen. Bello affirmed during his screening.
With over 25 years of experience spanning consulting, banking, law enforcement, financial services, and academia, Sen. Bello brings a wealth of expertise to his new role. His appointment underscores the government’s commitment to maintaining high standards of public morality and governance.
“The President anticipates that the new Chairman, upon confirmation by the Senate, will lead the Bureau with utmost integrity toward the realization of its mandate of maintaining high standards of public morality in the conduct of government business and ensuring that the actions and behavior of public officers conform to the highest standards of morality and accountability,” said Ajuri Ngelale, presidential spokesperson, upon Sen. Bello’s appointment.
Sen. Bello’s confirmation is expected to bolster efforts aimed at fostering ethical governance and upholding the Code of Conduct Bureau’s mandate across Nigeria.
