Shock Announcement: NNPC Hikes Petrol Price by 14.8% to N1,030/Litre in Abuja

Major Price Hike: NNPC Raises Petrol Cost Again

In a significant move, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) has raised the pump price of petrol in Abuja by 14.8%, bringing it to N1,030 per litre, up from N897. This marks the second increase in petrol prices within just a month, raising concerns among motorists and consumers alike.

Recent Trends in Petrol Pricing

Earlier in September, the price was adjusted from N615 to N897 per litre, reflecting a troubling trend in fuel costs. The recent hikes have left many residents frustrated and struggling to cope with the rising cost of living.

Motorists Express Concerns

During a visit to an NNPC Retail mega station in Abuja, many motorists expressed their disbelief and frustration over the latest price increase. “It’s beyond belief. I’ve been in the queue for almost an hour and didn’t know they had increased the price. It feels like our leaders are disconnected from our struggles,” lamented Usman Abah, a taxi driver.

The Implications of Rising Fuel Costs

This consistent rise in petrol prices poses challenges for many Nigerians, particularly in a country where fuel is a critical part of daily life. As costs continue to soar, the impact on transportation, goods, and overall economic stability becomes increasingly concerning.
