The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has refuted the assertion made by the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) regarding TCN’s alleged role in the failure to provide a minimum of 20 hours of supply to Band A feeders due to system outages and tripping on TCN’s feeders.
Following a thorough investigation into the matter, TCN revealed that IBEDC’s publication on April 9, 2024, across their social media platforms, attributing their inability to deliver the estimated hours of supply to its customers, is inaccurate.
TCN clarified that the feeders mentioned in IBEDC’s publication are not under the TCN network. Instead, they are 11kV feeders operated by IBEDC and are completely outside TCN’s operational control within IBEDC’s network.
Furthermore, TCN stated that the reasons provided for the outage on IBEDC’s 11kV and 33kV feeders, namely earth/overcurrent faults, have no connection to TCN’s frequency control operations.
After verification by TCN’s regional management in Osogbo in collaboration with IBEDC officials, it was confirmed that IBEDC’s statement was false, prompting the necessary corrections to be made.
TCN emphasized that such misinformation is an attempt to undermine and mislead the public regarding regular power supply. The company reiterated its commitment to supporting the government’s efforts towards achieving a more robust and efficient power supply.
In conclusion, TCN reassured the public of its dedication to efficiently transporting the entire bulk electricity received from generating companies to distribution load centres nationwide.
