Uyo Fashion Week 2024 Set to Light Up Southern Nigeria in September

Uyo, Nigeria—The city of Uyo is gearing up to host the biggest fashion event in southern Nigeria as the Uyo Fashion Week (UFW) returns for its third season this September. Following two successful outings in 2022 and 2023, Uyo Fashion Week 2024 promises to be an even grander affair, drawing the fashion and lifestyle community from across the country.

Scheduled to take place from September 20th to 21st, UFW24 will be a dynamic showcase of fashion, lifestyle, innovation, talent, and cultural heritage, perfectly aligned with this year’s theme: “Creativity, Commercialization, and Scale.” The event holds particular significance as it coincides with Akwa Ibom State’s 37th Anniversary celebrations and has garnered the endorsement and support of the state government.

This year’s fashion week will feature a pristine lineup of events, including masterclasses and workshops designed to contribute to the knowledge economy of Akwa Ibom State and the broader region. Additionally, a mini-retail mart will allow attendees to purchase fashion items and accessories, while the premium runway shows will serve as the centerpiece of the festivities.

The UFW24 runway shows will include three major events: the “Ayaya” and “Asiaan” runway shows, which will highlight established designers, and the “ARISE Runway Show,” dedicated to discovering and promoting emerging talents. The ARISE show is named after Akwa Ibom State’s development plan, The Arise Agenda, underscoring the event’s commitment to nurturing local creativity.

The detailed timeline for UFW24 is as follows:

Friday, 20th September 2024:

  • 9am – 1pm: Masterclasses/Workshops
  • 4pm: Opening Ceremony, Keynote Address
  • 5pm – 6:30pm: ARISE Runway Show

Saturday, 21st September 2024:

The events will be hosted at Ibom Hall in Uyo, with masterclasses and workshops taking place at the Nelson Mandela Hall of Wattbridge Hotel, located nearby. These venues have been selected to accommodate the anticipated surge in attendance, reflecting the growing interest in Uyo Fashion Week.

UFW24 is expected to attract a star-studded lineup of celebrities and entertainment icons, including Nollywood actors Nancy Isime, Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD), Ini Edo, Eve Esin, Ebenezer Eno, and Emmanuel Umoh of Big Brother Naija fame.

The masterclasses and workshops will feature a distinguished panel of speakers, including industry leaders such as Mr. Udeme Ufot of SO&U, Farouk Khailan, Dare Lawal, FalFunmi Ladipo, Joy Aggrey, Annie Essienette, Clemas Efanga, Enoabasi Emah, and Joseph Edgar.
